As Computer Specialist, you will provide hardware, software, and related IT support for the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT).

This position requires a medium to high level of technical support experience. The specialist will be the team lead in configuring and managing the servers and various web- and cloud-based platforms used for file, print, license, and database services. Our servers are primarily virtual machines running in a VMware-SAN environment, and we support Windows, Linux, MacOS, and mobile device platforms. Our supported applications include engineering-specific software such as ANSYS, Aspen Hysys, and SOLIDWORKS, as well as office productivity apps such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Office 365. The specialist will also serve as an information technology consultant to other departments and units throughout the College and will advise on and oversee technology projects.

The specialist will work closely with our partners at OSU IT to ensure CEAT is compliant with university security and domain management policies and will oversee implementation of cybersecurity best practices across CEAT. This position will ensure data protection procedures and systems are in place and effective. This position will also mentor and train other staff, and supervisory responsibilities may be assigned, depending on departmental need. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for technology who has the communication skills to be a great team player.

Position Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience OR
Associates degree in related field and four years of related experience OR
High school and eight years of related experience and demonstrated progress toward bachelor's degree

Proficient in oral and written communication. Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision. Strong analytical skills. Ability to multi-task. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related field and five years of related experience, including hardware and software support and project management.

Knowledge and experience using computer systems in a network environment
Knowledge and experience with a wide variety of operating systems and applications
Must be able to work effectively both as a team member and independently
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong organization skills and detail-oriented
Great problem-solving skills with an enthusiasm for life-long learning
